Eagle Racing Team History
The Eagle Cycling Club, our parent organization, has produced some marvelously successful sportsmen in the past. Probably the most sucessful of these is Ron Lemos, who was a multiple-time National Champion mountain biker in his age category, and in 2005 finished second at the World Championships. Other great racers have been spawned by the Eagles and flown to other ranges. But now the time has come for the flock to remain in the Valley.
While there have long been racers wearing the jersey of the Eagle Cycling Club at local races, the modern incarnation of the Eagle Racing Team is new for the 2007 season.
Last year many of the ERT racers were clothed in the blue jerseys of the Berkeley Bicycle Club through an unusual affiliation agreement between the two organizations.
For the 2007 season, founding ERT racers Jess Raphael and Dustin Diede decided to leave the confines of BBC to train in, and race for, their Napa Valley home. While Dustin gathered his some of his friends in the Category 3's from other teams including Team Spine and the Travis Hawks, Jess brought his friends from Berkeley and Benicia.
And those friends brought theirs. And so on.
And now there's a racing team in Napa again.
While the ERT team history amounts to little more than a short paragraph and has yet to include a single road race, we expect to be around a long time. Someday this single paragraph will be the prologue chapter of a marvelously storied racing team.
