Welcome To The Homepage of the
Eagle Cycling Club's Racing Team ("ERT")

Based in the Napa Valley, the Eagle Racing Team is the racing arm of the Eagle Cycling Club. ERT is dedicated to excellence and the promotion of cycle racing sports in the North Bay.

We encourage road, mountain and cyclo-cross racers from the North Bay to contact us and join the fun.

The ERT sponsors Wednesday evening and Saturday morning race training rides in the perfect cycle training locale: Napa Valley.

The Team offers our active Cat 3/4/5 road racers and mountain and cyclocross racers of all age and gender the most attractive and comprehensive racing package around: Two annual training camps, discounted Wenzel Coaching, generous race fee reimbursements, a complete array of pro-deal equipment, free racing kits, terrific sponsors, the best group of men and women to race and hang with, and the most inspirational roads in NorCal.

Membership Obligations

If you're not a member, maybe you'd like to join ERT. All ERT racers must be members in good standing of the Eagle Cycling Club of Napa Valley.
The membership form should be filled out and sent in to the ECC with the $20 fee. As a member of the Club, you'll be obliged to volunteer at the Tour of Napa Valley in August, and to spend a few hours once a year doing pick-up on the Silverado Trail.
As an ERT racer, you'll also be obliged to volunteer at two of our events and to race 5 races with ERT in order to qualify for our special benefits.

Ordering Team Clothing

Our team kit order is placed annually at the beginning of October. If you miss that deadline, don't worry. We'll do another order in the spring. Meanwhile, the Team may have a jersey for you to purchase for the time being.
Order your kit for the next team order by downloading the clothing order form. Note the chart on the first page. If you commit to racing at least five races with ERT, we'll buy some of your gear. If you bring in a sponsor, we'll buy you a bunch of team gear!

Although we won't have a lot of extra gear, we will replace your jersey if it's torn in a race.

ERT Discussion Group & Online Resources

The Team maintains a Yahoo Group, which includes a discussion group where you can gab about team events, discuss strategy, or whatever you want to talk about.
The site also has polls, calendars, links, and files and photos to download.

Team Meetings

ERT meetings are at 7:00 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month at Downtown Joe's Restaurant at the corner of Main Street and Second Street in Downtown Napa. Here are the directions.

Race Reimbursement

1. Eligible races are those officially sanctioned by an organization such as USCF or NORBA.

2. You must wear the team's current year jersey or skin suit in the race, unless the clothing order hasn't arrived, in which case you must wear the previous year's jersey.

3. Reimbursement is limited to $40 per eligible race per day, and a maximum of $140 per calendar month.

4. You must apply for reimbursement for the previous month within the first three days of the following month by sending an e-mail to Rick including the races you finished and your results (if available). Reimbursement for races you did not complete will be with approval of team captains only.

Thanks to our generous sponsors and especially to Duke Tuchman at Napa River Velo and Foye's Bike Shop in Woodland, we are able to offer our racers prodeals on bicycles by Bianci, Specialized, Time, Look, LaPierre, Felt and Blue. We also have pro deals on Specialized helmets, shoes and eyewear. Veltec offers us pro deals on Sidi shoes and Vredestein tires and tubes. We also have deals on both Time and Look pedals. Training Camp

The Team runs a full weekend training camp in December in the Napa Valley, working on pack and individual skills, teamwork, and - of course - team bonding.

Team Training Rides

We have three team training rides per week:

Wednesdays: A difficult training loop around Dry Creek Rd. and over Mt. Veeder, around 2000' of climbing in 25 miles. The ride starts at Bicycle Works in Napa at 6:00 p.m., beginning in February. After daylights savings begins, we'll start at 4:45 and do a double loop. If you only want to join the second leg, you can meet us at the corner of Browns Valley Road and Redwood Rd. at 6:00 p.m.

Saturdays: A "grab bag" ride. We decide on the type and distance of the ride according to our training needs at that time, somewhere along the scenic and safe roads of the Napa Valley. This ride begins at Napa River Velo, formerly Bicycle Trax, in Napa at 9:00 a.m., and is available to join now.
